Adding Your First Camera & Vendor RTSP Guide
This guide walks you through connecting your first IP camera or RTSP video encoder to RUSEON Core, configuring stream properties, and enabling automated archiving.
1. Vendor RTSP URL Reference
Before adding a camera, verify its RTSP URL format. Replace user, pass, and 192.168.1.100 with your camera's actual credentials and IP address:

TIP
Special Characters in Credentials: If your password contains characters like @, :, or #, URL-encode them. For example, @ becomes %40 (rtsp://admin:pass%40123@192.168.1.100:554/live).
2. Adding a Camera via the Web Dashboard
- Log into your RUSEON Web Dashboard at
http://localhost:8080. - Click Add Camera in the top navigation bar.
- Configure the camera parameters:
- Camera ID: Unique alphanumeric identifier (e.g.
cam-01). - RTSP URL: Full URL from the vendor table above.
- Transport Protocol: Select TCP (prevents UDP packet drop artifacts).
- Record: Check to store video in the fMP4 archive.
- Retention Days: (Optional) Override system archive retention in days.
- Camera ID: Unique alphanumeric identifier (e.g.
- Click Save & Connect.
3. Adding a Camera via CLI
You can quickly add cameras directly using ruseon-cli:
